The battle for the final remaining spot in Premier League Queensland 2026 is set to ignite, with two proud clubs ready to leave everything on the green.
On January 17, bowls fans will turn their attention to Club Pine Rivers, where Hamilton Power and Kawana Thunder will go head-to-head in the PLQ 2026 Qualifier, with play commencing from 1:30pm.
For Hamilton Power, the stakes could not be higher. As a foundation club of Premier League Queensland, this qualifier represents a chance to reclaim what they believe is their rightful position.“As a foundation club of the PLQ, winning this playoff and being included back to our rightful position means everything to the Hamilton Power,” said Bowls Manager Tony Martin. “Rich in a proud history of competing still runs true throughout our entire club, and we plan on giving our all so we can obtain a place back in the PLQ.”
Standing in their way is a determined Kawana Thunder, a club driven by ambition, growth, and community pride. Head Coach Barrie Lester sees this qualifier as more than just a match. “As head coach of the Kawana Thunder Lawn Bowls team, I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to push for qualification into the 2026 Premier League Queensland competition,” Lester said. “This journey isn’t just about results on the green, it’s about growing as a club, building pride in our players, and helping promote the great game of bowls across the Sunshine Coast.”
This qualifier promises intensity, passion, and high-quality bowls. Two clubs. One opportunity. A place in PLQ 2026 on the line.
