What is Premier League Queensland (PLQ)?
PLQ is a prestigious bowls league in Queensland that has been running since 2000. It features Queensland's top clubs and players competing in a fast-paced, high-energy format.

How does the PLQ format work?
Clubs field 16 players in 4 rinks of fours in a 21 ends format. Premier League is an Open competition meaning bowlers of any age, ability and gender can play.

When does the PLQ season take place?
Traditionally held in February and March, the competition will shift to a new timeslot, kicking off with a triple header on 21 August 2026 and concluding with finals on 26 & 27 September 2026. The revised schedule will coincide with District Pennants of several Premier League clubs.

What does the schedule look like?
​The 2026 Premier League season will run across six weeks, incorporating two triple-header rounds, two double-header rounds, and culminating in a stand-alone final round with the schedule to be announced soon

How does our club enter Premier League?​
If your club would like to enter the 2026 Premier League QLD, please submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via email by Friday 5th December 2025. All nominating clubs will be required to participate in a playoff series against other applicants and the relegation club, Hamilton.
The Premier League QLD Playoff is scheduled for 17th January 2026, with the venue to be confirmed.
In the event that more than three clubs apply to join the 2026 competition, the PLQ Board will review all applications and select the three strongest entries to compete in the playoffs alongside Hamilton. If three or fewer clubs apply, all will be eligible to participate in the playoffs, with the winner securing entry into the 2026 Premier League QLD.
