PLQ Teams Locked In

Premier League Queensland is excited to announce the 12 teams locked in for the 2026 season.

With the introduction of Brisbane-based Red Hill and the return of long-time PLQ contenders Hamilton Power, the competition continues to grow in strength and depth.

In a later start to the season alongside the pennant calendar, this year is shaping up as one of the most exciting yet.

Chairman of Premier League Queensland, Wayne Turley OAM, said the changes mark a significant step forward for the competition.

“On behalf of the PLQ Committee, we are delighted to welcome Hamilton Bowls Club and Red Hill Bowls, Sports & Community Club to the competition. We are incredibly excited for the 2026 Premier League season, which will see 12 clubs compete over a six-week period commencing Friday 21st August. We also extend our sincere thanks to Bowls QLD for their ongoing support.” Wayne Turley OAM - Premier League Queensland Chair

Traditionally held in February and March, the competition will shift to a new timeslot, kicking off with a triple header on 21 August 2026 and concluding with finals on 26 & 27 September 2026. The revised schedule will coincide with District Pennants of several Premier League clubs. As part of this transition, the 2026 season will feature a single Premier Grade, consisting of four rinks (16 players) in an open-gender format. The previous reserve grade will now operate as Division 1 within each Premier League club’s pennant structure.

Premier League Queensland continues to be recognised as one of Australia’s premier lawn bowls competitions — growing bigger, stronger, and more competitive each year. The 2026 season promises to be the best yet, with new dates, format, match times, and participating clubs.
